1. Mainpart (of shield)

  • had its origin 2500 BC where it was found on murals of “Menos Knossous”.
  • we also accepted as a very early Christian symbol that exemplifies the Holy Trinity (the three leaves).
  • was also used very early on by the French Royal House as a kingly symbol.
  • also symbolises growth – three leaves at the end of the plant.
  • the number 3 is also important in teaching
  • apart from the religious meaning of teaching. it also symbolises the three partners in teaching: Child, Parent, and Teacher.
  • the division of the main part of the shield into three and the Fleur-de-lis (3 leaves) symbolises this idea

Notwithstanding the fact that the cross has a religious connotation. It can also be regarded as a teaching symbol namely: Child/Teacher/Parent/Community.
